What Is Boudoir Photography?
When I introduce myself as a Boudoir Photographer, three things often happen.
I hear, “OoOoo Boudoir!” - which means this person has an idea of what I do.
Second thing that happens is I get a blank stare. Cool, I’ve gotten worse.
Or my favorite, I am always asked this very same question:
“What is Boudoir?”
I think about this question a lot. What is Boudoir? What does Boudoir Photography mean to me? What does this strong and beautiful Women that I get to photograph think about Boudoir?
Boudoir is defined as a woman's bedroom or private room. Yet, Boudoir Photography is much more than that. I believe that we are made up of extensions of our characteristics and our own experiences. These things not only shape us to be the strong Women that we are and continue to become, but it also allows us to define our story that is unique to us. One thing I am certain about is that we all share a universal desire to be heard, regardless of our individual paths, and no matter the medium. And that’s where Boudoir Photography comes in.
I believe that Boudoir Photography tells a story. One of the things I am passionate about is to be able to document the story of Women with authentic and timeless boudoir portraits. Boudoir forces you (and me) to be vulnerable. We both place ourselves in a safe space without barriers, where you are able to open up about who you are, what you want to express as a Woman, and most importantly what is within you; and I am able to capture it without judgment.
Boudoir is more than just an image of you in little to no clothing, it is a photographic image of your soul. It is pure, raw, and emotional. I cannot begin to tell you the many times I’ve had tearful moments with my ladies during a session. It’s truly incredible and magical.

Boudoir extends to more than just taking a portrait of a woman in delicate lace lingerie. Boudoir portraiture is vulnerable. It seeks truth for both the artist and the muse. As a boudoir photographer, my heart’s desire has always been to create boudoir imagery that uplifts and inspires Women.
The connections I am able to make with Women are unforgettable. I believe that to feel the unknown is the most beautiful form of creation. Everyone has a gift within them. Something to give, a story to tell. I want to be there to capture your inner self and help tell that story.
