What To Wear To Your Boudoir Session, South Florida Boudoir Photographer | Denice Lachapelle

When it comes to boudoir sessions, there are a many things you can do to prepare. Together, you and I will talk about every single detail about your shoot. During the many creative sessions we will have, you and I will discuss the location of your shoot, the mood of your boudoir session, hair, makeup, and we may even talk about what nail color you may want to decide on. But one of the most common questions I get asked is “what should I wear for my boudoir session?” And if I am being honest here, my first instinctive answer is to tell you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable!

What makes a woman feel her best and experience comfort is never the same. On a regular day, I feel my most comfortable completely naked or in lace briefs and a tee. And during my very own boudoir session, I felt incredibly sexy (and comfortable) just wearing high-waisted undies. So you see, we all have our own definition of what feels comfortable (and sexy) and that is OK!

Boudoir sessions are similar to making travel plans. Once you book your flight, you go into planning mode and fill your itinerary with things you want to do or see. Am I right?! So preparing for your boudoir session is just the same. When you first decide you want a boudoir session, you then book your dream boudoir photographer (hopefully me!). Your mind immediately goes into thinking about what to do next, which is where I come in. Together we plan a unique experience, because if you didn’t know, the beauty about boudoir is that it truly is an intimate encounter with yourself from beginning to end. And what you feel or may want to express will translate to the article of clothing you decide to wear during your session.

Whether you are thinking of having a boudoir session in the future, or if you’re in the middle of planning your boudoir session now, this blog post is for you! I’ve gathered some of my personal tips and favorite places to shop all in this very post to help guide you in finding the perfect little something just for you.

VISUAL INSPIRATION

Having some sort of guide or visual inspiration is always helpful, and you can never go wrong by starting with a moodbard to help shape the mood of your boudoir session. One of my go-to for visual inspiration these days is Pinterest. If you’re on Pinterest, you must check out these two boards that I personally curated. They are full of ideas and boudoir inspiration, making my boudoir loving heart happy and full!

Here are some of my favorite brands to shop for lingerie

SAVE | asos, Savage by Fenty, Journelle, H&M, and don’t forget vintage stores especially for lace robes. One of my favorite online vintage stores is Gossamer. Prices vary from low to high-end and inventory changes weekly.

SPLURGE | Lonely Label, For Love and Lemons, The Lace Atelier, Claire Pettibone, and La Perla.

You can never go wrong with a bodysuit…

Get Creative

Now, as much as I love Pinterest, I am the first one to tell you that your boudoir session doesn’t have to be like the ones you see on your pinterest boards or google searches. It’s your boudoir session, and you have the liberty to make it whatever you want and wear any piece of clothing that makes you comfortable. Take for example this image of Roxanne, she wears a linen scarf turned into a bandeau top and high-waisted briefs. She’s comfortable, she’s fabulous and beautiful!

I’ll end with this which is what I always tell my clients, just wear something that makes you feel good!

I Am Here To Tell Your Story

Boudoir extends to more than just taking a portrait of a woman in delicate lace lingerie. Boudoir portraiture is vulnerable. It seeks truth for both the artist and the muse. As a boudoir photographer, my heart’s desire has always been to create boudoir imagery that uplifts and inspires Women.

The connections I am able to make with Women are unforgettable. I believe that to feel the unknown is the most beautiful form of creation. Everyone has a gift within them. Something to give, a story to tell. I want to be there to capture your inner self and help tell that story.

This is my wish for you: for you to experience a celebration of yourself like never before! To connect with whom you are on a deeper level, because you are deserving of your love.
