Today is my mother’s birthday. Her name is Maria Alexandra. She is an incredible Woman and today I want to share a piece of her with you through my portraits of her.
Last month, we took our first trip together for the first time ever.
Just her and I.
I have been on this earth 30+ years and I found it incredibly profound that in this moment, we were getting to travel together.
I was taking a Female Portrait workshop in LA and I didn’t want to go alone. Normally, I love being alone. But this time, I wanted to share it with someone and asked her to come with me. Our trip didn’t go as planned. Aside from being in the cusp of a nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19, we both got sick after eating ramen on our first night! That really sucked but we bounced back the next day and explored Malibu.
One of my goals this year is to photograph portraits of my family. I knew that I wanted to take the opportunity to capture portraits of my mom while in LA, but we really didn’t plan for them at all. It was such a rainy day in Malibu that Saturday. I had a boudoir session that cancelled due to the weather. But the skies clear up for us just in time to take in Matador Beach and create some dope portraits of this woman that I admire so much.
